Designing for Joy
That question does it make me happy? is probably the most honest summary of my design philosophy. I want the things I create to bring a little brightness into everyday life. Whether it's a print on your wall, a pattern on a product, or a design that catches your eye in a shop, I want it to give you that small lift that a great colour combination can deliver.
My design process almost always starts with colour rather than ending with it. It's an intuitive process as much as a technical one, I'm always asking myself: does this make me feel something? Does it make me happy?
It's All About YOU
Here's something I think about a lot: as women, how do we feel truly loved?
So much of our lives is spent giving our time, our energy, our care. But there is something quite magical about being on the receiving end. About someone seeing you, really seeing you, and choosing something just for you. A gift that says: I thought of you. You matter. You deserve something beautiful.
That moment, the unwrapping, the surprise, the feeling of being valued and wanted is something I want Katie Wootton Design to be part of. Not just as a product, but as a feeling. A gesture. A way of saying all the things that are sometimes hard to put into words.
That's the brand I'm building. Not just beautiful things but beautiful feelings. That leads us onto...
You Are...
I've been sitting with an idea. Something that isn't fully formed yet, but feels important. I'm calling it You Are...
It's a moment. A pause. A chance to reflect on who you are and just how deeply you are loved.
We move so fast through our days that we rarely stop to really take that in. Especially as a mum of two, your always on the go. So, I'm looking at You are loved. You are cherished. You are....
I want You Are... to become something woven into the heart of Katie Wootton Design, a reminder, through colour and design and the act of gifting, that the people in our lives are worth celebrating. That you are worth celebrating.
It's still taking shape, and I'm excited to share more as it comes together. But at its core, it's about this: the moments when someone hands you something beautiful and, without saying a word, tells you exactly who you are to them!
